About Alex
Alex Ring Gray is a composer that has worked with the likes of Philip Glass and John Luther Adams as a music engraver and ensembles such as Nief-Norf as a music technologist. He writes in both classical and electronic idioms, frequently combining the two in his works.
Alex is a graduate student at New York University where he studies composition with Bang On A Can co-founders Michael Gordon and Julia Wolfe. He holds a BM in Composition and Musicology with a minor in Saxophone from the University of Tennessee where he was a teaching assistant and tutor in the Music Theory and Musicology departments.
Alex is dedicated to guiding his students' creative exploration of music while also helping them hone in on the practical aspects of writing music.
