About Kristine

Hi Welcome! My teaching focuses on my student's strengths and reasons for learning. I ensure that students are taught from a personalized curriculum that brings them closer to their goals while emphasizing the music fundamentals that will prepare and enrich them for life. I am passionate about piano, cello, saxophone, theory/composition, and songwriting. I believe I can engage any curious or dedicated student with this eclectic mix of perspectives and experience.

I earned my B.S. in Health Promotion & Disease Prevention from Cal State University of Fullerton, and both my Post-Bacc in Communicative Sciences & Disorders and M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies + Literacy Specialist from University of Hawaii at Manoa. I have 15+ years of experience working with diverse children in various settings such as Sunday School, elementary schools, learning centers, and in-home.

The past 7 years were spent specializing in Cognitive Educational Therapy, which focuses on the foundational skills needed to learn.

About the lesson

It's important to meet your child where they are and address the root cause of their learning struggles. To do so, our first session will include:

1. Collaborating with parent/guardian to get a better picture of your child and set goals.

2. Fun/informal interview questions with your child to not only understand them better, but also for them to get to know me and answer any questions/concerns they might have.

3. Assessment(s) to help guide an individualized curriculum plan and progress monitoring.

I have experience working with neurotypical students, as well as students with Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder, Dysgraphia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Speech/Language Delays, Epilepsy, and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
