About Brandi

My digital lessons are curated to the student's individual learning style. If you aren't getting what is being taught I take that as a sign that I need to switch things up! My goal is to provide every student with the opportunity to learn and show their true potential.

When a student is struggling with a concept and you keep showing them new ways to approach it and finally you see their eyes shine with sudden understanding - it is such an "oh!" moment. Those moments are the reason I enjoy teaching.

I took on tutoring gigs in college to help make ends meet and quickly realized how much I enjoyed helping others learn and succeed. From there I began studying to take my teaching license exams and have been teaching digitally since 2018.

I hold my MFA in creative writing as well as my secondary teaching licenses in English and Journalism. I have worked as a professional writer for nearly a decade and am a member of the International Association of Professional Writers and Editors.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I like to get a feel for where they feel they need to improve, what they consider their trouble areas, and just have a conversation to guage their learning style and confidence level. Once I get a feel for some of this basic information I can create lessons and activities that will help a student learn in both the short and long-term.

I have worked with students ranging in age from 4 to 40. My students are both native English speakers and ESL learners.

Take special care to ensure that an essay writing tutor is not only well-versed in the specific writing style you need, but that they have maintained training to adjust to style guideline changes. Additionally, for creative writing and poetry a tutor should have training in both the technical aspects as well as the marketing and professional areas of the subject.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What am I hoping to get out of these lessons?

2. Am I open to constructive criticism?

3. Am I dedicated and open to being taught?
