About Jennifer
My name is Jennifer Forte. I graduated from Hofstra University in 2017 with a Bachelors of Arts in psychology and with minors in neuroscience and cognitive science. I plan on getting a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, where I will go on to work in academia and as a cognitive behavioral therapist. I am currently working at the Yale OCD Research Clinic, where I am getting the necessary experience to be a competitive applicant to Ph.D. programs around the United States. One of my first tasks at Yale was mentoring a high school student who was in an advanced class learning about psychology and research. I worked extensively with her to prepare a research paper to be submitted into various competitions. I received an email from her about a week ago stating that her paper had been chosen to be presented at a conference. Our next job is to prepare a poster presentation for her to bring to the conference and to work on presentation skills. In addition, my job as an APA therapist was a teaching oriented job. Why do I want to become a tutor? The answer to that is a simple one; I absolutely love my subject - psychology- and I want to spread that passion with those who are interested. I absolutely love teaching those who are willing to be taught.
I have informally tutored others all of my life. I've helped some students prepare for the AP Psychology exams. My more forman training in teaching is through Applied Behavior Analysis, which is different than what I will be doing here, but relevant. Both to psychology as a field and to teaching experience.
