About Hannah

Being an American and native English speaker who learned Portuguese essentially on my own, through immersion in books as well as on the streets of Curitiba Brazil, I know what it's like to study and struggle through learning a foreign language. I lived in Brazil for 18 months, speaking only Portuguese and living with Brazilians, the the point where my Portuguese became so developed that I started forgetting English! I can help you get there, too.

I started teaching 2 years ago in Hawaii where I met both Brazilians who wanted to learn English and other English speakers wanting to learn Portuguese.

I have a bachelor's in Intercultural Peacebuilding which offers a great foundation for intercultural communication! Communication is more than words - it is people expressing their thoughts and feelings. I also lived in Brazil for 18 months where I gained Portuguese and Brazilian cultural fluency.

About the lesson

I like to start by seeing where students are at, getting an idea of their goals and where they want to be, and creating a personalized study plan from there.

Mostly adults ages 18-40.

Find someone who has actually had to learn the language on their own through hard work and sacrifice, rather than someone who was raised speaking the language or doesn't know what that process is really like because they were too young to remember.
