About Emily
I started teaching my roommates, back in college. Then, I picked up more and more students as word of mouth spread. Before my move to NC, I had 34 weekly students in San Diego! I just love to teach and am setting up my new studio here in NC.
I have 19/+ years of experience as a private piano teacher, teaching students ages 4 and up. I have played the piano since I was three and continue to play for fun, Church congestions, and events. I am an ABRSM qualified instructor and also offer ABRSM test guidance.

A new student interview is the first step to becoming my student. There is no cost for this face to face meet and greet where I will evaluate the student for abilities and answer any questions while getting to know you a little bit!
I have taught students ages 4 to adult. I have worked with special needs, naturally gifted, hard workers, slackers, and self-motivated! I believe everyone learns differently, so I don’t use just one set curriculum. I fit the curriculum to the needs of the individual and try to ensure every student LOVES to learn music!
Ask the teacher why they teach! There is really only ONE good answer: I love music and love to teach it! Always look for that passion in a teacher and never let a teacher rob a student of their love of music. If the teacher is sucking the fun out of learning to play, something is wrong! A good teacher will also provide opportunities for recital performance, share progress with family, and offer testing and certifications, if desired.
This seems like a rather weird question! As it pertains to teaching, my favorite events are always recitals. They really bring together my music families and allow students to showcase their skills! We always have fun!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why do I want to play piano? What kind of music do I want to learn? Can I commit to practicing assignments 5 days a week? Is my home instrument acceptable? If it’s not, an I willing to upgrade it so that I can make the most out of lessons?

Emily is more than a piano teacher, she is a great friend! My boy started lessons with her and our families became close friends outside of lessons! My boy was always eager for his weekly lessons with Emily and getting him to practice was never an issue. Emily is engaging with her students, she teaches at their level and interests. Words cannot express how grateful we are to have had Emily as his introduction to music. We miss her (and her family) and are looking forward to maybe some online lessons!!!

Details
$15 for 30 minute lessons, once a week for levels P-1. Typically L2 students and above require 45 minute lessons, which are $22/each. Additional lessons or longer lessons are available upon request and as needed for the student. :)
Tuition is paid once a month, at the beginning of each month.
