About Naomi

Maxwell Music Studio offers private piano and harp lessons in north Tacoma. Students are provided with a holistic, comprehensive foundation in playing, creating, and listening to music.

Lessons encompass developing students' abilities to read music, explore rhythm, compose melodies, and understand music theory. Piano and harp students learn and play a wide range of musical styles, and piano students also have the opportunity to participate in special performances and assessments through the Music Development Program.

Mission Statement: Maxwell Music Studio aims to support and nurture the love of music in every student by providing tailored instruction in a positive environment with a commitment to musical excellence and personal growth.

I believe that every human is intrinsically musical, and I enjoy the process of working with each student to help them develop a musical skillset that allows them to express their own unique sense of musicality.

I began teaching piano lessons in 2010, while completing my undergraduate music degree at Pacific Lutheran University.

Bachelor of Musical Arts, summa cum laude, Pacific Lutheran University

Professional Memberships:

• Music Teachers National Association

• Washington State Music Teachers Association

• Tacoma Chapter, Washington State Music Teachers Association

• National Association for Music Education

• American Harp Society

About the lesson

Prospective students and parents are invited to schedule an informational meeting at the studio to review studio policies, answer questions, and determine a good fit for the student's needs.

I have worked with students as young as 5 years old, elementary students, teenagers, young adults, mid-career adults, and retirees.

Talk with the teacher and get a sense of their approach to teaching and their goals for students. Tell them about any specific goals you have, why you want to take lessons, and what kinds of music you are interested in.

The special moments of making music and learning with each of my students every week.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I ready to commit to a regular practice schedule?

Do I have a suitable instrument? If not, am I willing to invest in a quality instrument?

What do I hope to gain from lessons?

For parents: Is my child interested in lessons and ready to begin?

For adult students: What are my goals for lessons? What style of music do I want to learn?
