About Colin
Colin is an award winning classical pianist whose accomplishments include first place at the Seattle International Piano Festival Classical Viennese Festival in the Schubert division. He studied with Peter Mack at Cornish College of the Arts, Baycka Voronietsky at the University of Maine, and privately with Yuka Sasaki in Seattle. In addition to performing, Colin has an active piano studio, has worked with Music Teachers National Association as the founder and president of the Cornish Collegiate Chapter and is currently a member of MTNA.
Colin has taught students of all ages and levels and has experience preparing students for the Royal Conservatory of Music Exams.
He also performs periodically as an accompanist, provides live background music, and performs solo recitals.
I enjoy teaching students how to work hard and how to approach difficult tasks like playing piano. It makes me happy seeing students progress and be able to play and understand interesting and challenging works.
I began playing piano at around age 2 or 3 and took lessons through highschool. In college I studied with Baycka Voronietsky at the University of Maine and then finished my degree in Piano Performance 2016 at Cornish College of the Arts while studying with Peter Mack. Since then, I have taught lessons and performed as a career.

I generally start with basic note reading and technique. We start playing music immediately. The best way to learn note reading is to read tons of notes. From there, I add sight reading, theory, and any other concepts to assist in their playing.

Details
I charge $70/hr for piano lessons. New students generally start with weekly 1/2hr lessons and then lessons times increase to a maximum of 1 hr as the student progresses. First lessons are always free since it is mostly about meeting the new student and deciding what the best course is to take them on.
