About MORGAN

I have been teaching private piano, collaborating with musicians, and coaching performers for nearly 19 years. I take immense pleasure in helping students and clients progress and succeed.

My sincere goal in teaching is to both elevate the quality of piano playing within my studio and inspire artistry and musicianship in every student.

As a private studio owner, I have worked with students at every level, from young beginners to advanced adults. As an adjunct faculty member at Brigham Young University, I have had the opportunity to teach for five years with generous mentorship, including ten months of remote private lessons. Twenty-two years (of my own study) with world-class teachers and professors have provided an excellent example for me to emulate.

I started teaching as a high school student, but eventually established a more formal studio as a sophomore in college. I have been grateful to maintain a private studio since 2012.

I have two degrees in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University. While a student there, I had the immense pleasure of studying with renowned faculty including Dr. Scott Holden (my primary mentor), Dr. Irene Peery-Fox, Dr. Jared Pierce, and Dr. Jeffrey Shumway.

I am currently on adjunct faculty at Brigham Young University, and was formerly on faculty at Utah Conservatory. I have taught and coached students now placed at competitive schools and conservatories across the country including (most notably) The Juilliard School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, and others.

I also served as a visiting artist and guest judge at festivals and competitions across the state.

Before accepting a student (regardless of age or ability) into my studio, I prefer to have a brief interview to discuss my studio policy. I have found that an interview establishes clear expectations from the beginning of the relationship.

Goals, of course, are determined by the student; I do not demand comparable performance from every student, but I do expect comparable effort. I do not adhere to a singular teaching methodology.
