About Carey

I teach quality music curricula for young children, age 0-8.

Sound Beginnings is a family class for children age 0-4.

Let's Play Music is a 3-year curriculum for children starting at age 4 which teaches basic music skills and introduces piano.

LPM Bridge is a 1-year curricula for LPM graduates which goes deeper into technique and theory and advanced piano repertoire.

It just feels like play time. We are doing serious work but it's all accomplished through play.

I've participated in and loved music all my life but never considered teaching until I was introduced to Let's Play Music. When I saw the puppet show teaching classical music appreciation I was hooked but there were no convenient teachers near me. I knew I needed this in my family.

I am fully certified to Let's Play Music's high standards to teach their Sound Beginnings, Let's Play Music and LPM Bridge curricula. I have 11 years teaching experience.

About the lesson

Let's Play Music follows a traditional school schedule. We have new groups of students, age 4-5, begin in August starting with a detaile parent orientation.

Big ones, little ones, fast ones, slow ones. All kinds.

Don't wait to begin music education. Kodaly says the best time to commence music education is 9 months before the birth of the mother. Small children can learn the language of music long before they can manipulate a keyboard or any other instrument. And music is not just a neat thing to do. It is measurably beneficial to the developing brain. Do it!

We had an amazing recital in May where my students got to show off their singing and piano talent and the graduates got to perform their original compositions.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Are you willing to establish the culture of music at home to ensure success? to follow through on assignments? To look at your struggling child and get creative about how to accomplish hard tasks and work through the negative attitudes that eventually surface? What do you want to get out of the experience? Just a fun activity? See if the student likes it and wants to continue? A family of musicians who play together?
