I have a performance degree in music. My first referrals were from people that knew me as a violinist in the area such as other violin teachers and public school Strings specialists.
Violin Performance degree from the Mannes College of Music and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I have taken Suzuki Teacher Training for all 10 Violin Books and was awarded outstanding private teacher by the Nebraska String Teacher Association. My success with teaching has helped students win solo competitions with the Lincoln Youth Symphony along with students winning scholarships and awards for their accomplishments with the violin over the years.

Students can bring music that they want to learn or I will suggest pieces and exercises to help them build violin playing skills. I use Suzuki Book 1 for beginners and gradually add more music and studies when they begin to advance. I do ask that students consult me before buying an instrument or accessories.
I have worked with all ages from preschool age students up to adults.
Ask school music teachers in your area or other teachers what they know about the person you are considering taking lessons with. If they don’t do a trial lesson or interview/ orientation, have the teacher play something for you. Ask if you can play for them and see what they would do to help you make it sound better. This can be done over the phone!
The most recent recital where students showed how much they learned and shared with others by performing for an audience.

Perfect! Lisa was extremely professional and was very patient when working with my son. She even went the extra mile to stop by the house when traveling across country to do a lesson and repair his violin.
Perfect! I also forgot to mention on top of her being an amazing teacher, she took her time to teach me online. I was worried about it at first but she made the process easy and enjoyable in my own home

I have known Lisa as a violin teacher for my children for many years. Lisa is a most appreciated person as a violin teacher in our family. My son studied with Lisa for many years and my daughter has been learning the violin with Lisa now for 8 years. During these 8 years there have been changes. My daughter started violin with Lisa in kindergarten when we lived in Omaha, Nebraska and now she has grown taller than me. Eight years ago my daughter started as a beginner and through Lisa’s knowledge and persistence, my daughter has won awards and is playing advanced level pieces, the most recent accomplishment being winning a spot in the Triangle Youth Philharmonic in North Carolina. Along the way it has been Lisa’s experience, nurturing and demanding that has guided my daughter’s success. Lisa treats her students in a caring manner and is able to help them with important things right before they perform, helping them with their sound, stage presence and confidence. Several of my friends have said that Lisa has helped their child and shows respect for the student and parent in the development of their child’s musical journey. One friend said with heartfelt gratitude “We found the right teacher when we found Lisa!” When my daughter is preparing for a competition or audition, the first thing we think to do is to ask Lisa and whenever my daughter wins an award or good news, the first thing she thinks of is to tell Lisa. We moved to North Carolina last October and my daughter has been taking online classes with Lisa ever since. They use Zoom and it works great. My daughter reached her goal and won her place in the orchestra with only the regular online lessons. As long as there is good stable online connection, the child takes lessons seriously and practices following the teacher’s instructions, the effect of Lisa’s online course is absolutely guaranteed!
To give a review to Lisa, I have the best say in this matter!
Lisa is the most grateful person in our family. My son has studied violin with her for many years, and my daughter learns with her too. Until now she has studied with her for more than eight years. During these eight years, there were a lot of changes. My daughter began to learn violin in kindergarten, now she has grown taller than me. Before we lived in Omaha, and we went to OCoM learning in person, now we have moved to North Carolina and have changed to online learning. Eight years ago my daughter knew nothing about violin, now my daughter got a lot of rewards and is now playing professional level pieces in the Triangle Youth Philharmonic in North Carolina. Along the way, it is Lisa who is teaching, demanding, caring and guiding her. Lisa is an experienced, nurturing, and demanding teacher. Not only is she beautiful, she treats her students like they are her own children - sometimes she teaches my daughter how to make her more beautiful sound, onstage posture, etc. right before she performs. And highly skilled and well-informed.A couple of my friends told me that their child went to homeschool, so they learned a lot of music theory and performance from the Internet, and asked Lisa to teach on this basis. Lisa would do it in no time. And the previous teacher, had to teach the child according to his own teaching methods, the parents wore out their mouths, the teacher did not agree, and then the parents said with emotion: "We found the right teacher when we found Lisa!"
Now, when my daughter is preparing for a competition or audition, the first thing she will think of is to ask Lisa; When she gets a rewards or good news, the first thing she thinks of is to tell Lisa. Lisa is the person she trusted the most!
We moved to NC last October, and my daughter has been taking online classes with Lisa ever since. They use Zoom and it works great. You see, my daughter entered TYP this year. Therefore, as long as the network is stable and the child takes lessons seriously, practices following the teacher’s instructions, the effect of Lisa's online course is absolutely guaranteed!
Lisa led the way in the musical development of our two children. She is the most grateful teacher in our family! My zoom lessons with Lisa have been very successful! This was my first time doing lessons online and they were just as effective as in person, in my opinion. She has done an amazing job of focusing on important technical work as well as the importance of musicality and really “listening.” She also makes sure to pay attention to even the smallest details. In the past couple of months of working with her I have made significant improvements! I have had a lot of music lessons in my life, and I will say my lessons with Lisa have been some of the best and most useful!
Lisa is very knowledgeable, and my daughter really enjoys working with her!
She is very good working with children.
She’s very patient and understanding with my daughter. She’s very accommodating
Lisa was a fantastic teacher and mentor for my daughter during the 4 years she gave her lessons. She inspired her to practice hard, gave her advice on extra musical experiences, and instilled a deep love for classical music. She made a huge difference in her life!
She is highly qualified, easy to communicate with, flexible, and pushes her students to achieve their music goals.
Our Family has enjoyed violin lessons with Lisa Nielsen. She is a very professional and organized teacher, she is nurturing while at the same time bringing her students to a high standard of musical skills. It has been a pleasure to have her as our children’s teacher for many years until their departing to the University.
She has patience. She’s nice.
She is great. Works with my child where she is at and encourages her to be even better. We are grateful for Lisa as a teacher and musical mentor!
Both our son and daughter took lessons from Lisa for 10+ years. Our son was chosen as senior soloist at his high school orchestra, our daughter now teaches youth violin lessons, and both were involved in orchestra at the college level. Lisa's instruction instilled values of discipline and passion for music in our children. During the beginning years, she was helpful in guiding us through parental involvement in their practice routines. We can confidently recommend Lisa as a violin instructor.
Lisa does a great job with fine-tuning things such as technique, rhythm, dynamics, etc so that the student is able to play their pieces with true musicality. She also seeks to provide helpful technical exercises which will aide the violinist in becoming a well-rounded player! To top it off, Lisa has a warm and kind personality!
