About Joey
For lessons, I will maintain a relaxed atmosphere while keeping the student productive. Learning the love the instrument is just as important as learning it. If you would like to learn to sing and play, we can do that as well. Early piano students would fit best.
Piano: While having had classical training, most of my early years with piano were learning by ear and by myself, so I have an understanding of different ways of teaching piano.
I have been playing piano for about 10 years now, starting for myself at home and now studying Music at University (Music Therapy).
Ukulele: While having no "classical" training on Ukulele, I have been personally studying and performing with it for 5 years. It is easy to pick up, but difficult to master.
The lessons would cover basic pop songs to traditional Ukulele pieces.
I have been playing and performing for almost a decade now, and have studied at a college level. My major is Music Therapy, so I have a very patient and calm demeanor without being unproductive in lessons.
I have an understanding on how to work well with kids as well as teens. I also have lots of experience working with children on the spectrum, and I understand how individualized ASD is.

The first lesson would be establishing skill level and introductions. We would mess around on the piano, but also test scale proficiency. This would not only show me where to start, but would give me an idea of the students interests and inherent strengths.
Be prepared to practice regularly, regardless of how much we meet practicing daily is integral to learning an instrument!
Completed the past semester with straight A's, including my piano jury and other music classes.
