About Erymell

Hello everyone,

This is Erymell. I am a pianist from the Dominican Republic who has a broad musical background. I have studied classical music together with jazz for over a decade with some of the best teachers in my country (Iván Dominguez, Josean Jacobo [Berklee graduate and leader of the Afrodominican Jazz band Josean Jacobo & Tumbao]) and also american professors like Dr. Dianna Anderson (Piano professor at Minot State University) and Aimee Nolte (one of the most notorious jazz piano teachers today). Learning from these masters, combining their teaching methods, and also adding my personal learning experience, I have put together an effective pathway to success which I'm willing to share with you in class. There are a broad range of skills that one needs to develop to become a proficient pianist and many teachers tend to only strenghten a few of them, leaving the student with certain weaknessess. I want to teach you the right way, takle all those skills, and have fun in the process.

What I love about teaching is that I learn while doing it. Every student's mind works differently, so it's a joy for me to explain and approach things from various persepctives so that the student might understand the concepts. By doing this, I obtain a deeper understanding of the concept which I'll gladly use with other students. Also, there are things that I understood late in my learning experience and I which someone would have taught me those concepts and approaches before. I want to teach you those things so that you can become a solid pianist in a relatively short time.

I started teaching in the music academy where I studied where I happened to be one of the top students. Other students kept asking me to help them and to explain them thing and I realized that I enjoyed doing this, so five years ago I decided to make a gratifying business out of teaching music.

-Former student in the studios of Aimee Nolte, Josean Jacobo, and Dianna Anderson.

About the lesson

-Assess their musicality.

-Assess their ability in different skills (in case they already have experience).

-Develop a program of advancement to takle each of the skills (technique, reading, ear training, theory).

-From children (as young as 6 years-old) to adults (around 50 years old).

-I have taken in students who were starting from scratch, and also students with a beginner or intermediate level.

-I charge $20 for a 1hr weekly lesson, or $35 for 2 weekly 1hr lessons which separates piano technique and repertoire one day and theory and reading a different day.
