About Claudia

Math has always been my passion, and throughout my life, I have seen people struggling with it. I want to help children and teens be able to reach a point where math comes so easily to them; I want them to feel comfortable with the concepts that they are covering so that they feel excited about careers or job opportunities that they did not want to consider before. I not only want them to succeed in math, but I want them to grow to like it.

I taught a Geometry class and an Algebra 1 class in my local community last year.

I have been tutoring at St. Petersburg College for almost two years for all math levels up until Calculus 2. I worked there with my fellow college students and helped them gain confidence and succeed.

I worked for Mathnasium, and worked with small children with elementary math and also worked with teenagers with high school level math. It was a joy to see them feel more comfortable and do better in their classes.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student normally follows this formula:

Before the session, I ask the student what specific level of mathematics they are working with.

Then, I ask the student if they feel like they have been struggling since the beginning of the course, or if they have been doing well up until a certain point.

Depending on their answer, I either prepare to explain and work with them on the concepts of that specific level from scratch, and work our way up from there, or I ask them to provide me with some example questions that they have been having issues with.

My utmost interest is having the student be able to understand mathematics in its whole, so I feel perfectly comfortable going at their pace to unsure that there are no holes in their knowledge and understanding of the concept.
