About John
The Los Angeles Academy of Performing Arts (LAAPA) offers top-notch theatre arts training to youth ages 4-18. Our classes, performance camps, and workshops are taught by leading professionals in the world of performing arts.
Students will be exposed to a curriculum that ranges from classical theatre to musical theatre, all the while learning the important life skills required to work successfully within a group environment.
LAAPA has been working with students since 2011 in the areas of acting and musical theatre. Our instructors are veterans of film, television, and stage. We enjoy helping our students develop not only as artists but as professionals and leaders in the industry.
All of LAAPA's instructors have advanced degrees in their field and/or extensive professional experience both as performaers and teachers.

Students are free to enroll online or call us for questions. Students who wish to join our Prefessional Teen Conservatory are required to audition and interview.
We work primarily with students K-12. Students range from beginner to professional. Private lessons are available to children teens, and adults.
Make sure you talk to the teacher and feel comfortable learning from him or her. You need to trust your teacher to be completely coachable.
Recently our teens performed at the Special Olympics. It was an honor to part of such an amazing event and a great opportunity for LAAPA to give back to the community.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What's your professional background?
What's your experience as a teacher?
Do you work with students at my level?
What are your expectations of me?
Just as important as the questions you ask is your comfort level with the teacher. Does the teacher make you feel relaxed and confident? Do they inspire you to be your best? Are they patient? Do you want to learn from them?
