About Henry

I love music more than anything in the entire world, and I especially love sharing this joy with other people. I feel that it is my responsibily as a professional musician to help others realize just how beautiful and powerful a force music can be in life.

Henry Solomon is a saxophonist, clarinetist, flautist, pianist, and composer living in Los Angeles, California. Originally from the San Francisco bay area, Henry started playing piano at the age of 6, and clarinet and saxophone at the age of 12. Henry has performed with a wide variety of musicians including Harry Connick Jr., Arturo Sandoval, David Binney, Roy McCurdy, Anthony Wilson, Steve Lehman, Louis Cole, Genevieve Artadi, Juanes, Justin Jay, Thumpasaurus, Vulfpeck, and more. He has been on 4 international tours, performing across Japan, China, the UK, France, Belgium, and also at the 2013 and 2014 Grammy Awards, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, and a number of jazz clubs all over New York and Los Angeles. Henry plays saxophone, clarinet, flute, and composes music for six bands in Los Angeles, playing jazz, folk, funk, rock, and classical music. Henry recently graduated from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, where he studied saxophone and composition with Bob Mintzer, Vince Mendoza, Aaron Serfaty, Russell Ferrante, and Peter Erskine.

About the lesson

It's important to me to first identify what a student's goals are, and then from there we develop a plan to work towards those goals. My main objective is helping students realize their musical goals, and also to hold every student to their maximum potential.

It is very important to look for a teacher who is going to let you determine what direction you want to go wtih music. Having a teacher that forces you to play music you dont want to play will ultimately make music something that isn't enjoyable, which is the most important thing. Music should be fun!
