About Hannah

Hi! I excel at teaching creatively. I love coming up with ways to get students excited about making music. In addition to healthy practicing, I encourage active and open-minded listening, historical learning, theoretical understanding, and joyful performing.

I love helping students experience the sheer ecstasy of music-making. Music is not JUST fun. It’s completely invaluable to our mental/physical/spiritual well-being!

I started teaching piano in high school at my home church.

I have played piano for 15 years. I have a Bachelor of Music in oboe performance and organ performance. My Masters is in sacred music with an organ emphasis. Both degrees from Southern Methodist University. I have taught piano/oboe lessons on and off for about 8 years.

About the lesson

I’d like to get to know the personality of the student a little bit, what experience they have musically, and what they are interested in learning. Then I’ll develop a curriculum/game plan for that student based on their needs. I take learning seriously, so I expect the student to do so also. And we’ll have fun in the process!

3 yrs old to teenage. Would also enjoy adult students.

Find someone who is open-minded about all kinds of music, instruments, and teaching styles. There’s no sense in this elitism that pervades the classical music world. Also, if you want to become a pro musician, versatility pays.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think 10 years down the road when you’ve had the chance to put in your thousand hours... Where do you want to be with music, and why?
