About Wesley

Hello! My name is Wesley, and I am a music instructor based in Eastpointe, MI. I hold a Master of Music degree in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Music Theory. I have been teaching private music lessons for over seven years. I teach piano, trumpet, horn, and music theory. For more information, visit my website, (concealed information)

I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Saginaw Valley State University with an emphasis in trumpet, piano, and music theory. I also hold a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Florida, where my research focused on incoprorating improvisation and composiiton into piano lessons with beginner students.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student involves getting to know them personally. I want to get a feel for their goals and learning style so that I can best help them learn music.

I have been fortunate to work with many students. My students have been as young as four years old, and as old as 73! I have also been blessed to work with students from many cultural backgrounds. Currently, my studio is a mix of young beginners and intermediate adults.

When looking to hire a music teacher, ask them about their educational background. Why are they qualified to teach this subject? Also consider how long they have been teaching and how they approach music learning. Ideally, a music teacher should be patient, attentive, and fun!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Consider your learning goals. Why do you want to learn this instrument? Have you already been playing it for a while, or are you a total beginner? Do you have any prior musical background that will help you learn this instrument?
