About Elena

Hi Charlotte friends I am a student at Queens University studying Music Therapy. I also teach piano, and general appreciation for music. I am looking for students between the ages of 3-12. Please contact me for for more information. Elena Samaniego

I love working with kids and teaching them beginning techniques for piano and I like to interact and show them how to appreciate piano music and all other kinds of instruments. As of know I have 6 kids coming to my piano lessons and I teach them all the basics of piano and I make it fun and interactive.

I love making music with the kids ages 3-12 because it is a perfect age to start at young age to learn the piano because then the child has opportunities of learning to appreciate other music and instruments. I also love teaching because I also love playing the piano for my residents back in the Chicago orland park assisted living home as well as voice singing and entertaining them.

About the lesson

First I start them with the book teaching little fingers. Thus book allows the kids that are learning to play piano know the fingers they need to play with, with the correct hand. I introduce students first what the right hand signifies and what the left hand signifies for playing the piano correctly. I also make sure that for piano the arms or fingers are not super tense and my motto is "make them like jelly". Introduction to right and left hand on piano and also note names if the kids are younger I will teach them with piano letter stickers if they are older I give them a choice if they want letter stickers or with out but if they choose the piano stickers then eventually I make it known to them that the piano fingers will no longer be on the piano so that they can learn the piano without the stickers this will make them better musicians.
