About Juliet
Juliet Strong Piano and Voice Lessons, founded in 2005 and based in Beacon, NY, provides private piano and voice instruction by appointment for students of all ages and experience levels. Instruction integrates music theory, technique, and ear training with body-awareness practices influenced by Hatha Yoga and meditation to support healthy, tension-free singing and efficient piano technique. Piano students build foundations in keyboard orientation, note reading, rhythm, sight reading, and proper hand position. Voice students develop breath support, alignment, vocal technique, and musicality, with coaching in delivery, phrasing, and vowel placement.
Lessons are tailored to individual goals, with imaginative imagery and games used to engage younger learners and focused coaching for older students on chord theory, ear training, and repertoire development. Students may study Pop, Broadway, Jazz standards, classical pieces, and original songwriting. Sessions are offered in a home studio on Tuesdays through Thursdays, with Zoom lessons available to students on the East and West Coasts and beyond.
Owner-instructor Juliet Strong holds a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Oregon, has training from the California Shakespeare School and Berkeley Rep School, and has taught privately and through the Williamsburg School of Music. Her background includes classical and jazz piano and an extensive performance history in New York and on national tours.
