About Sophie
I am a professional violinist and teacher who enjoys working with students in pursuing their passion for music. I am currently Senior Assistant Concertmaster of the South Carolina Philharmonic and have performed in Carnegie Weill and Jordan Halls. I have also attended Tanglewood Music Center, IMS Prussia Cove, Spoleto Festival, Taos School of Music, and more.
I have over 20 years of playing experience and have taught private lessons for 6 years with several of my students placing in Region and All-state Orchestras. I am currently on the faculty at Maestro Musicians. Outside of private teaching, I have also coached ensembles in New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School and Noble & Greenough Middle School.
Music has been a part of my life since I was four. I remember the awe and joy I felt when learning violin and piano, and I aim to share that passion with the next generation of musicians. It is always exciting to develop relationships with my students and help them pursue their love for music.
I received my Masters of Music and Graduate Diploma from New England Conservatory in 2018 and 2020, respectively. I attended the Schwob School of Music and graduated with a Bachelors of Music in 2016.

First, I like to get to know my students a bit. I then discuss with the student, and parent in certain cases, how much experience they have, if any. Depending on their level, I will decide what books to start with as well as practice and long term goals.

She was nice, patient and made lessons engaging. She was very reassuring during each lesson and I walked away feeling like the goals for the next week were very achievable-- Not to mention she knows a lot about the violin.
