About Paul
I discovered that with school age students, music study reinforces "pattern recognition", which has been shown to cross over into other areas of study and help in achieving other goals as well. With adult students, the "recreational" aspect of piano study is more important... it is the journey of making music, and that enhances enjoyment of playing, relaxation, and other positive effects..
I derive great satisfaction watching a student's progression from the very first note played, then the progress as each song is played throughout subsequent music. But the greatest joy of all is watching when a student encounters a stumbling block, and then reaches that "AHA!" moment of conquering the problem!
After earning my degree in Music Education, I opened my first teaching studios in Lowell, MA in 1948 while I was Chelmsford High School Band Director. In 1958 I transferred to Framingham North High School, and my late wife and I opened our studios in Framingham. In 1971 we moved to Bedford, NH and opened Bordeleau Keyboard Studios; in 2007 my daughter joined the Studio and teaches with me.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from New England Conservatory of music, then my Masters of Music Education and Doctoral studies at Boston University.

FIRST -finding the student's learning style: does the student learn most naturally by sight? by ear? or by "tactility" (kinesthesia)?
These modalities and more are examined in depth in my book "Mysteries of Music Education (and Beyond)" by Paul Bordeleau - published on Amazon/Kindle.
Adults & Seniors; School age children and teens; Prodigies and Special Needs students (Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Dyslexsia) among others.
For adult students: think about what you would expect the teacher to help you achieve. Playing Classical? Pop? Jazz? Blues? We do it all here!
• For parents: what would you like to see your child achieve? Would you be willing to help your child remember when to practice every day?
I am playright and composer of "Uncle Mort's Funeral" (A Musical Farce) and I've had the great joy to be Artistic Director of the live productions.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
• For adult students: how much time will it take to accomplish my goal? (Consider the satisfaction of playing music you enjoy.)
• For parents: How can I help my child succeed? Am I willing to help my child do that?

My son has been working with Mr. Bordeleau for the last five years. His experience has been great. Mr. Bordeleau works with each student and goes at their pace that is right for them. He plays to the students strenths and works to improve their weaknesses. My son has been interested in going to school for Music Education. Mr. Bordeleau has been instrumental with helping him learn all of the extra skills and topics he will need to do so and because of that he has been accepted at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam for the fall 2019 semester. Mr. Bordeleau is a great inspiration, a top notch music teacher and comes very highly recommended by my son, myself and my whole family.
Aside from the wealth of knowledge, Mr Bordeleau understands how to connect music to a child. He genuinely cares for each student, and provides priceless insights and advice. Worried that my son may burn out, I recall Mr Bordeleau asking my son how old did he think Beethoven was when he composed his greatest work, Ode to Joy. My son said, “Maybe 30?” To which Mr Bordeleau replied, “Beethoven was 57. And I want you to know that music is a journey, not a destination so pace yourself. I want you to play and make music well into your 50s and beyond. Promise me?”
My son always looked forward to his lessons with Mr Bordeleau, eager to share what he’s been working on. Mr Bordeleau has great rapport, and what impressed me the most about him was that because he is so experienced, he is flexible and can easily switch gear, to go from composition to techniques to stories about artists. Thank you for leaving a positive impact on my son’s musical journey!Paul is a great teacher. He taught my son piano and organ for 9 years, and also taught me when I was younger. With my son, I saw Paul really get to know what made my son care about music and Paul tailored his lessons toward that for my son. My son learned a great deal about piano, organ, the business of organ, and also about life, during his lessons with Paul. We are very grateful to Paul.
