Explain the process of each step. I allow the student the freedom to move along the steps at their speed. While they paint, I explain the process and the many different aspects of painting and why they are doing what they are doing and what each step means.
Be open and available to learn. Realize the process of painting is pretty simple, as far as the mechanics, it's the ability to make an image seem like it has depth or to copy what you actually see-there are nuances that are difficult to explain.

Steve was my oil painting teacher and have me private sessions. He was patient with me and helped me develop my own creativity with imagining the finish product, different styles of painting and making the experience super fun!!!
