About Jendayi

Hello! My name is J. Berry. I'm a professional abstract artist hailing from Minneapolis primarily working through acrylic mediums. My work has been featured in multiple Minneapolis publications including Midwest Home Magazine and National media including HGTV. I am a self taught artist with a Udemy art therapy certification. My teaching experience is a combination of natural ability, professional experience and after-school youth art education.

As your instructor I take great pride in being a conduit first and foremost. I'll be that voice that gives you permission to go beyond instruction and explore your own artistic voice.

Through my lessons you'll gain a greater awareness of composition, layering to make your art pop and hopefully you'll pick up some tips and tricks along the way to take your unique perspective to the next level.

Named "the face of Abstract Fluid Painting" by MSP magazine in 2020, I enjoy using various abstract techniques to encourage ART THERAPY to youth and adults.

One of my favorite projects was working with elementary school kids after school. We used Jackson Pollacks splatter style and music to pull emotions from the body and onto the canvas. One girl actually cried because the emotions of her parents recent divorce weighed heavy on her heart. She was one of the classes most prolific artists.

About the lesson

Our first session will primarily be a discovery session so that I can understand the results you hope to achieve from our lessons. I'd also love to see examples of your most recent work as well as examples of art you'd like to create.

I also want to get to know you and your story. I have found that each of our stories has a way of subconsciously enhancing or sabotaging our progress.

Every session from then on will start with a brief convo/update of your emotional state followed by a simple 5-10 minute warm-up exercise to alter your state. Then we'll jump into the art.

After our discovery session, I will create a detailed plan to help you achieve your goals. This plan will be emailed to you and available for your reference. After each session you will receive a calendar reminder of our next session and what will be covered.
