About April

Painting has always been a passion of mine! I absolutely love to work with all different kinds of paint and people! I've been a teacher before for both kids and adults and I love creating a super fun, laid back, supportive environment. My main areas of interest include acrylic flow painting, black light art, and landscape design. Come step into my little world of creativity and take an online class right from the comfort of your home! Let's get Creative!

I am not a traditional teacher, more like an instructor. Someone to help guide you through a cool project! My teaching experience comes from an art studio and not a school. Because of this I've worked with many different kinds of people! I love everyone! If you're looking for someone to teach you things by the book, than I recommend seeking out another teacher. I am here to share my personal style with you and help you try something new and exciting. If you're looking for some amazing stuff to transform your room, and like my style, I can help you create it! I do primarily work with black lights and black light acrylic paint. Both super cheap products to have handy when signing up for a lesson. A lot of my art is also flow art which will require a small set up to ensure no mess. I recommend a small painters tarp on your table or floor and a plastic container of your choosing. I do recommend something kind of wide and shallow, because you won't be able to make a painting on a canvas that is bigger than your box without a mess. You will also need a few sturdy bars, longer than your box, to hold your painting up. I use wooden ones from Wal-Mart's craft section. The next essential is some small cups, 3-5oz, for mixing paint. I use Dixie cups. We will be mixing acrylic paint with floetrol and possibly silicone pouring oil, which can be found online at a bunch of retailers sites. I recommend starting with a smaller bottle of each. We don't need a ton to start with! Some people prefer wearing gloves. That is totally up to you. Sometimes I like to go in with my fingers, and feeling the paint helps me navigate it, so I personally do not wear gloves. Do keep some paper towels handy on that note! For any specific flow styles your interested in, there may be some other requirements, but we will go over that, once we both discover what you'd like to try first!!

About the lesson

First a nice introduction to me and who I am as an artist. Then some questions about the student, and what they hope to gain from my lesson. We will then be going over our list of materials, and why we will need them for our chosen project, and how they are used in the world of flow art. Then we will go through our flow painting process! In 24 hours I will follow up to see the finished totally dry result and get feedback. I will also go over steps for adding a glossy finish after our lesson is over.
