About Jessica

Hello, I am an high school art teacher at Manchester High School in Chesterfield County.

I have been teaching for 10 years, my first 4 years were in Greensville county at Wyatt Middle School. I have been at Manchester for 6 years & plan to continue there till I retire.

I have always had a passion for are, I majored in Art Education at Radford University.

I love 3d design and crafts but I also have a strong background in drawing and watercolor. Mixed media if my favorite artform personally.

I teach the intro level art classes at Manchester.

As a teacher my greatest joy is watching a student grow as an artist. I love seeing my students gain confidence in their abilities. I can give them the tools and techniques and they expand on them to create some wonderful things. Seeing a student put in the time and see the rewards of that time and learning is really awesome!

I have a B.S. in Art Education

I have been teaching Art for 10 years

I like to see what my students can do before starting so I know how to challenge them to grow in their abilities. The fundamentals are essential to grow as an artist but if they have that understanding already we can work on the creativity aspect of making art. If they need those fundamentals I can give them the tools to master them.

I typically assess their skills by looking at their sketchbook of having them complete a series of 5 different drawing prompts.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would think about what you want to get out of the lesson so you can share your expectations with the teacher.

What kind of time do u have to dedicate to your lessons? Is you instructor going to require work outside of the lesson time and if so how much?
