About Becca

I teach a one-of-a-kind program for people of ages that focuses more on the creative process than the end product. My primary focus is book and paper arts using a wide variety of materials and techniques. If you are looking for an out-of-the-box experience, my classes are for you!

I enjoy everything about what I do from making books to sell to teaching art classes. I love to create new classes/workshops and projects for students to keep them excited and interested.

I love book and paper arts. Once I began selling my art to the public and to private collections, people began to ask me to teach them how to make handmade books. I now teach a wide variety of book/paper art classes, ecoprinting and natural dyes/inks and textiles.

I have been a professional artist for over 10 years and have been teaching art techniques for the past 7 years to people of all ages.

About the lesson

My process for working with students is to introduce the project we will be working on by showing examples of the finished product to get them excited about what they will be working on over the course of the class/classes.

I work with people ages 5 years and up.

Research your teacher by going online to their website or social media platform of choice to see if their type of art work and style appeal to you. Look to see if they have their teaching experience online (such as pictures of recent classes, student's final work and a teaching/art resume).

Last month, I taught 'Designing Artsist Books' to 8 adult students at the Floyd Center for the Arts. Every student (and me!) had a great time. We explored many types of printmaking to make gorgeous background papers including watercolors, spray inks, acrylics and more! Every student left with a 6 x 6" spiral bound book bursting with incredibly vibrant handpainted papers.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Great questions for teachers are about your past experiences with art. Do you have good experiences with the creative process? Are you excited or anxious to create? Personally, I like to know why students are interested in book and paper arts since it is not a traditional (or typical) art form.
