About Lynn

I LOVE to see the light bulb go on when students grasp understanding of something they previously struggled with. My passion is promoting the success of students.

I hold a PhD in Education with a specialty in Nursing Education (2015). I earned my MSN in 2009, BSN in 2006, and ASN in 1993. I have taught in an entry level associate degree nursing program for 11 years. I have also taught in master and bachelaureate degree programs in the online setting. In 2016 I received a "Top Nurse Educator" award from the Internation Nurses Association. I have helped in the revision of nursing texts with Pearson publishers.

I will help you be successful in your entry level nursing program to graduate level nursing courses.

I started teaching advanced cardiac life support in order to improve my own understanding of code situations. I found that I loved teaching. I went back to school in order to teach nursing in the college setting.

I have a PhD in Education with a specialty in nursing education.

I have extensive experience with students who are from other countries and may experience some difficulty with the English language.

About the lesson

I like to determine how the student/learner prefers to learn. For example, some students learn better with the help of auditory work while others are more visual learners.

I like to have the students set long term goals and some short term goals. Example: (LTG) I want to complete the nursing program and be a nurse. (STG) I want to pass this course. (STG) I want to understand how fluid and electrolytes affect the cardiac system.

Entry level nursing students to graduate nursing students.

I work with students who have earned high grades yet want to improve their grades further to students who may be struggling.

Find someone who wants to work with your learning style. If you learn best with experience, you might benefit from lots of case studies. Or, if you prefer to practice with questions, find someone who will help you understand why one answer is the "Best" answer. Find someone who will try several different options.

I took my entry level nursing students to a park near the campus. I set up a live "mass casualty" experience using Beanie Babies, marked with tags containing triage findings, as our patients. Some of the students had to quickly triage the patients and provide report to the "ER" nurses. Other students were working in the ER and had to make decisions about their current patients in order to make room for the incoming patients. It was a lot of fun and the students reported improved learning from acting it out rather than listening to a lecture.

Details

$45 for 1 hour in Prescott, WI. We can meet in the local coffee shop or in the seating area at Ptaceks grocery store. There are other close options.

$50.00 for 1 hour outside the Prescott area.

I am currently arranging for online sessions. I will revise this area when completed.

$30 per hour for assistance with writing: APA style, grammar, developing organization in sentences and paragraphs. (minimum $30; $10 for each additional 15 minutes; this is done with comments on your word document; we do not meet in person for this option)
