About Kaylee

As a former Organic Chemistry Doctorate student and Current IB Chemistry Teacher, I am well equipped to teach Chemistry from the very basics all the way up to more advanced subtopics and even graduate level material. At the ripe age of 22, my age allows me to connect very well particularly with older teenage students as well as undergraduates. How long it has been since I have taught and/or learnt a certain concept depends, so I do ask that a brief list of topics the student is struggling with in particular is given prior to the tutoring session, so that I can compile any resources I have on my end ahead of time to make sure there are no gaps in my memory.

I firmly believe that creating a culture where students feel at ease seeking help and support is critical to their academic success. My teaching style is firmly rooted in this belief, as I emphasize to my students that there are no "stupid" questions and discourage them from feeling the need to apologize for seeking clarification. I welcome all my students' questions with enthusiasm, not only fostering a safe space for curiosity and learning but also gaining valuable insights into their unique thought processes which allows me to continually enhance my teaching methods.

My strengths particularly lie in simplification of language. Chemistry is notoriously a difficult subject, and this lies within the fact that learning the subject is almost like learning a second language. I pride myself on my ability to simplify the language of the subject in a way that students understand, utilizing slang and other words students are more familiar with, to remove the language barrier and allow them to better understand the concepts.

Natural sciences lessons offered by Kaylee are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Minneapolis. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.

This instructor is awesome. One of the most understanding and real guys that I have had the opportunity to meet in my undergrad. I missed a lot labs and didn't have a lot of motivation for this course, but I knew when I did decide to show up I'd get to see Lee and my day would honestly be a lot better. Lee provided some pretty awesome pre-lab instruction and I could tell he put a lot of effort into it for us, as well as providing ample supplemental material. Lee was quick to respond when I had questions or concerns... probably the quickest and I really respect/appreciate that about him. Lee was also tough on us, and I appreciate that because for a lot of my cohort this could be their first introduction to extensive post-lab writeups so they'll be set for the future. I have no doubt that Lee has found is calling and is capable of instructing in the field of organic chem.

I think what made this course much more enjoyable was our TA. Lee's pre-lab lectures and slideshows were very useful in helping me understand the content, and they were presented in a way that made the content interesting. I could tell that Lee made an effort to make the course content easier to understand, and genuinely wanted us to succeed in not only the lab, but also the lecture class. He was very good about answering our questions and responding to emails, and he was also very good at specifying his expectations for what he wanted to see for our lab reports.

The most compassion I have experienced since coming to college when it comes to academics. I felt incentivized to learn for myself and was able to truly engage with the subject matter because of this. I feel like this course definitely strengthened my sense of applied organic chemistry as well as how to properly work in a lab setting.
