About Peter
Peter Tijerina is a trombonist, educator, arranger, and composer. He has performed with the Sidewalk Stompers, Katie Flynn Cabaret, Lansing Symphony Jazz Band, Milonga and Son Dulce latin bands, Coeur d'Alene Symphony, and Olympia Symphony Orchestra. Peter currently teaches music at Lincoln College and his nonet currently (before pandemic) occupies a monthly residency at The Iron Post in Urbana, IL.
Peter is an Outside in Arts artist and reviewer for the Online Trombone Journal (OTG).
I started teaching my freshman year of college (2005/2006) when a middle school band director needed some guidance for his trombone students.
I have taught classical and jazz trombone privately since 2006, have a BA in classical trombone, a masters in jazz trombone, and finishing a doctorate in jazz trombone. Addditionally, I have taught trombone at the college level and have coached students at several music camps.

A recent musical event which I'm fond of is performing with the Urbana Pops Orchestrsa. Friends, family, and local music lovers get to enjoy music that is fun, entertaining, and accessible.

My standard rate is $30/half hour and $50/hour, but since I grew up unable to afford private lessons, I am open to discussing alternate arrangements.
