About Gabrielle
Helloo Music Lovers!
I teach music composition, music theory, and songwriting; this includes tutoring in the music notation software: Noteflight.com, Sibelius, Finale, any kind of score prep, score editing, arranging, and lyric writing.
If you're someone who has had a secret drawer full of songs you've never finished or has always wanted to write one and didn't know where to start...
or if you're more of a nerd like me and have unfinished music-y sketches on your computer somewhere or you have ambitious musical ideas in your head you've never been able to put to paper
or lastly, if you love music, but you would have no idea how to go about writing your own music, I'd love to help you realize your own artistic projects.
Gabrielle Liriano is a Dominican-American composer, songwriter, bassoonist, and teacher based in the NYC Metro Area. Her pieces have been performed at the University of Pennsylvania, Berklee College of Music, Montclair State University and more. Her music is on a journey, evolving as she explores incorporating sounds and rhythms from her heritage into her pieces and songs. Gabrielle is energized by the creative process of constructing music. She loves experimenting with her own sound universe, drawing listeners in, and telling stories. Some of her previous compositional work includes: "Chasing Horizon" for bassoon quartet performed by professional bassoonists at the 2021 Virtual Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium, "What it Means to Rise" for wind symphony performed by The Berklee Symphonic Winds at the Berklee Performance Center, "The Talking Gardens" for chamber ensemble performed by the Fahrenheit 402 Contemporary Music Chamber Ensemble at the Oliver Colvin Recital Hall, "Finding Oasis" for chamber ensemble performed by Berklee Composition Faculty at the Oliver Colvin Recital Hall, and "Follow the Omens" for flute choir performed by Penn Flutes at the Bodek Lounge at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has also written, recorded, and performed many original songs including “A Minute to Breathe”, “Let You In”, and “Follow This Sound” and she self-publishes her works through her music publishing company: Art Haus Music Publishing.
I have Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music in Music Composition and minors in conducting, musical theater writing, and songwriting and I have been composing and writing songs for 9 years. I am currently studying for my Masters in Music Compositon from the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.

I ask about what music the student is inspired by and what their previous music education looks like whether formal or informal and then from there we'd get working on either a song or a piece of music using the framework of a project to learn about all sorts of topics like musical form, melody, harmony, rhythm, lyricism, notation, theory etc.

Gabby is a wonderful musician! By working with her, I have learned so much about songwriting and musical composition. During our sessions, we covered topics such as piano, vocals, recording, melody, etc. Our sessions have made me a more confident singer and writer.
