About Christina

Specializing in equipping and empowering contemporary and traditional church musicians with the arranging, administrative, and conducting tools necessary to grow a successful program on a limited budget. I have 36 years of experience in multiple denominations: Roman Catholic, UCC, ELCA Lutheran, UU, and my home church, ECUSA. My proven success with amateur musicians in choral, praise, handbell, and instrumental ensembles is due to my creativity in programming and my skill in composition/arranging to create tailor-made works that allow my groups to bring their best to every worship service. With years of teaching at the collegiate level, I am a skilled and organized instructor and will help you to craft programs and arrangements that will work at every level and budget.

I have been teaching as a part of my work as a church music minister for most of my life. I love working with amateur choirs and helping them to achieve results they did not believe were possible. I taught graduate and undergraduate music majors at Bowling Green State University for eight years - Choral Arranging, Band Scoring, Orchestration, Conducting, and Choral Repertoire.

About the lesson

We have an initial consultation to discuss goals and the scope of the project. I provide an estimate of how long a course of study might be required to meet your objectives. We schedule the first four meetings (typically, once a week) with payment for those first four lessons required in advance.

I have taught skilled musicians and people who have never made music before, and everyone in between.

A teacher's experience will give the clearest indication about what they are passionate about teaching, but their education will demonstrate how skilled they are apt to be in actually teaching that material.

I have recently moved to Boston and am enjoying exploring the musical life of this wonderful city! I can often be found enjoying Bach cantatas at Emmanuel Church in downtown Boston on Sundays as well as traveling to churches in the area to hear what's going on in smaller communities.

$95/hour for Skype or in person lessons. I generally give a $10 discount per lesson for booking 6 or more pre-paid lessons.
