About Doug

I always get to know my student first to see if we are a good fit. If not I won't take the student on. If I don't think I can help I won't take your money or waste my time. My goal is for my students to gain knowledge and grow from my services. If I do a great job then eventually they won't need me anyone, but I'm still available for advice and troubleshooting if they need me.

I love seeing the lightbulb come on when a student gets it. I enjoy keeping up with students and seeing how they are progressing in their craft and/or careers in the music industry.

Teaching interns and staff in my own studios and consulting/teaching other audio professionals, songwriters, musical artists. I also teach one on one with interns at a local university.

I serve as a consultant in artist development, producing, recording, branding, publishing, marketing, music rights clearance & licensing of original music. More @ (concealed information)

About the lesson

I offer free consultations to see what a student wants and needs and to determine if we would be a good fit. Once we talk I'll be able to quote rates. I work with students in their home studios, in my studio, or virtually via remote studio connections or web conferencing tools. Once I start working with a student I am available by phone for advice or help if you get stuck during a session, etc.

A lot of people have knowledge or may be able to do well in the area they teach, but not everyone is a good teacher / instructer / coach. To be a great teacher involves a different set of skills. See if they have any online courses you could preview or any references from current / previous students. Students also have varied preferences for learning... written instruction vs visual instruction vs hands on. Make sure your instructor teaches the same way you like to learn.
