About Josh

Artistic innovation is my passion in life and to help a student gain the confidence to innovate is what drives me to teach. When a student is freed from the idea of what music should be to others, and understands what it can be to them, I know I have succeeded as an instructor.

After receiving my bachelor’s degree as an honors scholar from NYU Steinhardt's Music Technology program in 2021, I found my passion as a teacher when I began working as an instructor at a non-profit where I've taught music production, podcasting, music coding, and DJing in transitional housing facilities, public schools and summer schools around Brooklyn and Manhattan.

My unique services lie in my comprehensive knowledge of DAWs, music theory, aural skills, and film post-production, coupled with 7+ years of real world experience performing and releasing music as a singer, composer, bassist, guitarist and DJ. My musical knowledge is diverse, having created and played many genres of music such as experimental electronic, classical, punk, jazz and many more. I use this musical diversity to encourage my students to dive into unexplored creative territory and find their voice to make something new.

I have an advanced understanding of how to use many softwares such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton, Soundtrap, and Bandlab for music production, but also specialize in using DAW’s for freelance music scoring and supervising sound editing (with experience in podcast sound, ADR recording, and foley artistry). Currently, I can provide my students with private or small group instruction for music production, podcasting, DJing, and film sound post production topics.

My favorite part of teaching is getting to know my students other interests and finding ways to integrate them into their learning experience. Having worked primarily with early highscoolers, my students are interested in video games, social media, anime, drawing, and other art forms, so I love finding ways to incorporate that into making music
