About Cody
Starting out in a machine shop in 2010, I was using SOLIDWORKS in my day-to-day designing industrial patterns for foundries to cast. I used advanced surfacing tools on a daily basis creating complex parts to prints.
In 2014, I transitioned to Technical Support for SOLIDWORKS at GSC (A Milwaukee area SOLIDWORKS provider.) In one year I handled over 1500 cases with a 9.56/10 satisfaction score across all areas of the software.
In 2015, I began hosting classes for groups of three to eighteen people on all levels of the tool throughout the state of Wisconsin and Illinois. I developed GSC's online training program and hosted online sessions before transitioning to a new position. I worked with over 200 students during my time at GSC and maintained the highest satisfaction scores of any instructor on the team at a 4.95/5.
My students ranged from individuals who grew up on computers and understood them very well to those who had never heard of a double click before. I have a passion for catering the education to the users--something large classes don't always allow. I enjoy working with people, but I really love seeing students of mine thrive. I worked with workforce development upskilling recent layoffs and often taught students struggling through their college courses. Those were often the most enjoyable classes!
As for my style, I try to be very flexible. Training is useless unless it's catered to the student, and I look forward to working out a plan with you to get you exactly what you need.
I currently hold 17 different certifications in SOLIDWORKS. At the highest, I have passed the Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert exam. I also have passed the CSWPA-DT (Drawing Tools), CSWPA-WD (Weldments), CSWPA-ST (Surfacing Tools), CSWPA-SM (Sheet Metal), CSWP, CSWA, and various reseller only certifications. (As I no longer work for a reseller of SOLIDWORKS, these will expire in 2020-2021.)
I have teaching experience with SOLIDWORKS Mechanical CAD, SOLIDWORKS Inspection (I was the SOLIDWORKS Inspection product manager for GSC), SOLIDWORKS Visualize (I Created GSC's training course), SOLIDWORKS PDM (I was the SOLIDWORKS PDM Technical Support Lead for a stint), and SOLIDWORKS Composer.
As for topics I can teach Basics, Advanced Part Modeling, Sheet Metal, Drawings, Weldments, Assemblies, Surfacing, SOLIDWORKS Administration/File Management, and Mold Design.
It's important to learn more than the clicks and picks. As someone who demonstrated the software for sales over the course of three years, I know better than anyone that knowing all the commands is enough to make the software look good, but knowing when to use them and how to use them makes you look good.
If you don't know what I mean by parametrics, design intent, associativity, or constraints, let me help you become a master modeler by modeling the right way. Whether you're coming from another CAD system or no CAD system, are in college, or have been employed for years, I can help you up your game.
If you'd like to discuss a tutoring plan, feel free to reach out. I'm excited to move you towards the next level.

I like to start off with a bit of discovery to determine where the student needs the most help.
We'll discuss some of the fundamental concepts to evaluate where you sit now, and then once the fundamentals are sound, we'll create a plan to hit all of the advanced topics you need. You start from the ground up in 3D modeling, so this has proven to be the most effective route!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are you seeking tutoring for? (Work, school, hobby, etc.)
What will you be designing?
How comfortable are you today?
Have you tried for any certifications? (These can be a great way to gauge where you are at compared to other professionals.)
