About Audrey

Hello! My name is Audrey! I recently graduated from NYU with a minor in Classics. I hope to help students of all ages learn and enjoy Latin. I have been lucky enough to have some wonderful teachers in my life, whom I aim to emulate.

Given the circumstances, I am only working online right now, but I am happy to call before our first session, so you can ask any remaining questions you may have. I hope to work with you soon!

I would help my friends study their Latin and then my siblings. I've always loved helping people and Latin grammar made sense to me. It's very rewarding to see someone understand a new concept and improve. I am professional but not stiff. I like being able to laugh as we learn.

Although I am only minoring in Latin at NYU, I am qualified to help students understand the basics of the Latin language and translating it. I started studying Latin in 6th grade and have continued doing so through college, making this my 11th year. As a result, I understand the structure of Latin classes across many years. I also studied Ancient Greek for 2 years, but have enjoyed Latin far more, and received a 5 on my AP Latin exam. I understand Latin grammar and syntax and have translated works of many classical authors for college classes including Virgil, Ovid, Plautus, and Catullus. I would not market myself as an AP Latin tutor, but I genuinely enjoy the Latin language and the way it operates and would love the chance to share that with anyone interested in learning.

About the lesson

Every student is different and I believe in catering to each student's needs to help them learn in the best way for them. I focus more on understanding than memorization as I believe it lasts longer and makes learning more enjoyable. Learning is work, but it should also be fun!

Mostly friends and family. I can't wait to work with new students though!

Look for someone who you feel comfortable asking questions. You should never feel judged to learn something!

I recently read a book for pleasure for the first time in a bit. It was so nice and it made me realize how much I missed reading!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much work can I take on? How do I learn best? Through visual or aural techniques? What is my goal? Am I trying to understand the basics, have someone to practice with, have someone to answer questions, or master something?
