About Leonard
I have a more than half-century working knowledge of the Latin language and a passion for teaching it. I make complex matters of Latin grammar and syntax crystal clear to my students, through constant review, while translating and analyzing texts.
I have translated Latin liturgical texts for major CD labels of Gregorian chants. I have done a number of book-length translations from modern languages as well (French, German, Italian). I also tutor students who are preparing for standard Latin examinations, often using tests from previous years that are available online.
I have a doctoral degree in Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. The degree involved, among other things, an in-depth knowledge of Latin, Greek and Hebrew, and I have published articles in which that knowledge is employed.
After four years of Latin in high school, I have used the language continuously in college and post-graduate work. I read Latin all the time, and am currently doing Latin tutoring at a fairly advanced level.

I typically work through Latin text with my students, depending on what they are working on at the time. I make sure the student understands every aspect of the language. Through repetition, my students eventually come to know all the forms and inflections of Latin nouns, pronouns, adjectives and verbs.
