About Tyler
I'm a lifelong equestrian with experience in and out of the show ring in various places and types of barns. I have extensive saddle time in hunters/equitation, as well as in jumpers. I'm capable of teaching beginners, amateurs, and everything in between! Very kid-friendly, open to teaching basics in grooming/tacking/horse care as well! On your schedule, at your barn, on your horse. Looking forward to growing with you!
Horses have always been a huge part of my life, and working with them will always be a passion of mine. Being able to bond with a horse, to build a relationship out of trust and respect and become true partners, is a magical thing-there's nothing quite like it. Teaching others the joys and satisfaction that comes from working with horses is a wonderful way to share this amazing sport and everything that comes with it. Horses have changed my life-maybe they will change yours!
I first learned to ride shortly after learning to walk, and have been riding ever since! I began in saddle seat, and transitioned to equitation/hunters at the age of 7. I competed on the A/AA circuit in the Midwest for a handful of years, successfully showing up through 3'6" and placing in national competitions. I've since moved quite a bit and have ridden at a number of places and gained experience in several styles of riding, including showing in jumpers up to 1.10 and natural horsemanship training.

I like to spend some time getting to know you-your background, experience, goals, and overall feeling of where you're at and what you would like to get out of your time in the saddle. I always start on the ground-connecting you with your horse before you touch tack, and emphasizing the importance of the emotional connection between you and your partner.
If you are looking to find a mentor whom you can work with long-term, trying on multiple hats is necessary to find the right fit. It is okay to try a trainer and decide they are not the right one for you. The right trainer is not always easy to come by, so it is important to be flexible.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals for your riding/horse handling? What is it you want to accomplish, and how do you envision yourself getting there? Visualization is key for long-term success, and helps you to determine where you are now. Once you know where you want to go, you can start building your foundation from the ground up.

Lesson pricing varies based on location-I adjust the price based on distance I need to travel. Base price for an hour lesson including ground work is $45, plus $0.50 for every 2 miles outside of a 10 mile radius of me. (For example, if your barn is located 30 miles from me, I would add $5 for mileage making the total $50.)
