About Emma
I prefer to work privately or in small groups (3 max) to ensure that each student gets the attention they need during a lesson.
I've been teaching for 8 years, riding for 15. I gear lessons towards creating confident riders who are able to kindly and efficiently communicate with their horses, both on the ground and in the saddle. I bring together biomechanics, natural horsemanship, and classical riding to make horseback riding accessible to riders of any level. I have experience teaching both English and western, but I strive to teach riders both disciplines.
Safety is my top concern. All riders must wear long pants, close toed shoes with a small heel, and a riding helmet.
I love teaching all levels, but beginners tend to be my favorite. Watching someone learn how to communicate with a horse is the most rewarding part of a job. When riders realize that it's not like riding a bike and they have to work in partnership with their horse, they become much more observant not only of their horse, but also of the people around them.
