About Malinda 'Mindy'

Our main objective here at Melody Acres is to nourish & pass on the love we've had for horses all our lives. My area of expertise is Western riding. I can teach how to form a healthy relationship between horse & rider, which is basically the most important part of horsemanship. But I'm not qualified to give instruction in the area of English riding, Dressage, Jumping (anything other than a creek or tree limb, lol) My mother, the owner & founder of Melody Acres, my sister & myself have been raised around horses since birth. As a matter of fact, Mom & her sister actually rode a horse to school every day! We teach not only horseback riding but also every aspect of raising, training & caring for happy, healthy horses. I have shown horses at many levels including AQHA, High School Rodeo, 4-H & several horse show circuits in Kansas before I moved here in 2016. So now I'm living my dream--working' here at Melody Acres, training & caring for horses. But my true reward comes from teaching...& learning from people like you.

I love to see the growth, pride & the relationship as it forms between horse & rider. It never ceases to amaze me when a 5 year old, who weighs about 40 lbs, tells a 1200 lb horse to trot, whoa, back up, etc and that horse graciously responds to every command given by this pint sized human.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Your #1 consideration be the specific type of riding, English or Western, that you would be interested in learning. #2 Whether your goaI is competitive eventing or for relaxation/enjoyment, etc. I have very limited experience in English ridirg, therefore I AM NOT QUALIFIED TO TEACH ENGLISH, DRESSAGE, HUNTER/JUMPER, etc. #3 Your objectives or basic reasons for seeking horseback riding instruction. #4 You'll also want to consider the amount of time & effort you're willing to dedicate, both short & long term, in order to achieve your aspirations. #5 And last but certainly not least, if you currently or at some time in the future, intend to have your own horse. All of these things can play a significant role in determining the best lesson plan & ultimately acheiving your specific goals.
