About Lauren
Hello! My name is Lauren Black, it’s nice to meet you!
I have graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. I am an educator with experience supporting youth populations in both academic and community settings. In my opinion, a student only truly learns when there is a sense of joy in the process of learning, and I aspire to be the kind of educator that encourages that joy. My lesson plans often take advantage of virtual field trips, hands on activities, and interactive classwork that makes the learning stick. I have two years experience tutoring youth in literature, reading skills, writing skills, and elementary math. I also have provided college preparatory service and study skills training for students with learning difficulties. I am always willing to work closely with students and their parents to meet their specific needs. I encourage students to reach out early and often, and I am always willing to provide a timely response!
