About Victory

Hello! I look forward to meeting you and hearing about your vision for harp. Under my approach to teaching harp, I see myself not so much as a teacher, but as a mentor. For new students, we meet frequently in the beginning. As you progress, we meet as needed to support your goals. For young children, it's all about fun and play. Let's get started and make a plan that makes the harp exciting for you!

I began teaching a few years ago. My ecperience with my swee, childhood harp teacher was so wonderful and I'm so grateful for how far she brought me. I wanted to pass this on to others and grow the connection between harp teacher and harp student for myself.

I have taken many years of harp lessons starting from a young age up to college, including one-on-one private lessons and harp ensamble. I perform live regularly at paid gigs and brobono for service. I am especially good at working with children; I am constantly volunteering around children and am good at getting to their level and relating to them.

About the lesson

Usually a new harp student needs guidance on what to do with their new (or old) harp, and sometimes want advice on what kind of harp to purchase. I am happy to start a new student wherever they are. I can give ideas about what kind and brand of harp will match their goals. For harpists who don't know how to tune or care for their harp, I always like to meet them at their house in the beginning to give this support. By way of musical instruction, for students who are new to reading music, I work with them on this skill as well as harp technique. For students who have musical experience it will be mostly focussing on technique. From there, I like to become clear on the students' goals for harp and work towards accomplishment.

At this point I have only worked with children, ages 9-13. But I would love to work with adults, as well! That would be a new adventure for me.

I would tell a student to ask a prospective teacher what their goals for their lessons are and what opportunities for performance they are able to offer you or help you work towards. Performing is what makes a good musician an excellent musician.

I recently composed a simple duet for my harp student and I, which we played for her mother. She played on my little harp and I on the big one. Arranging my own duets is a new thing for me and it was very exciting!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Definitely think about your goals for the harp. In what settings to you see your playing or performing? How far do you want to go? Are you trying to developing a marketable skill?
