About Joshua

Learning to play the guitar can be very difficult on your own. Youtube videos and books are great! Often, however, not all the pieces seem to connect and you are left struggling and unsure whether you are playing things correctly. My goal as a teacher is to provide you with the knowledge, hands-on assistance, and accountability to help you excel and to achieve your goals! I have over ten years of experience as a professional guitar player, songwriter, and music instructor. I have worked with every age demographic as well as students with various impairments. These include students who are legally blind, those suffering from MS, severe arthritis, and those on the autistic spectrum as well. I am passionate about helping others learn and look forward to helping you!

I have experience working with people with some conditions that might make it difficult to learn the guitar. These include vision impairment, autism, and severe arthritis. I have been able to watch these students overcome these difficulties and succeed and reach their goals! That is one of the most truly awesome and inspiring parts of what I do!

I have a degree in Audio Engineering and Music Production from SFCC. I was also privately tutored for six years by a classical guitar instructor who taught Guitar and Music History at Saint Martin's University in Lacey, WA. I have written and recorded seven albums of my own original music. I have also helped coach worship teams of all ages in local churches and have had a busy gigging and studio musician career.

About the lesson

I have worked with a wide demographic of students, from students as young as 4 to students of 75.

Invest in a teacher who is forward thinking in modern practices but schooled in a classical tradition.

My favorite thing is to be able to see students of mine succeed. I have had three of my students go on to produce full length albums of original material. I am currently coaching many of my guitar students in recording arts and music production as well and am working with several of my students on their original music.

Details

I recommend students take four lessons per month. This consistency is the most effective way to build your skill as a musician as quickly as possible. I have a two-month minimum contract for lessons (eight lessons). You can either choose to pay by the month (four lessons at a time) or pay for the full amount for 2 months. Month by month prices are below. Note that 2 months are required for enrollment.

4 Half Hour Lessons – $200/Month

4 Full Hour Lessons – $400/Month

Tuition for new students is due at the time of the first lesson. For those making monthly payments, tuition is due on the final lesson of each month.

I accept cash, check, and also debit or credit. Please note: for digital transactions, there is a 3% processing fee.
