About Drew
I take into account what the student wants and needs from their lesson. I care about individuals and I my main objective is to get you where you want to be.
I love that I get to combine my two favorite things, teaching and music. Learning music has so many benefits. Some of these include improved brain development, self-expression, and social skills. This is just a few areas that learning music can help you with. Plus, learning music is fun! It brings me so much joy to be able to share my love and passion for music. Teaching music is the most fufilling part of my life.
I started working at Popp Music Academy in Sellersburg when I started college. Before this, I taught some at home lessons. Teaching is something I have always had a passion for. Once I realized I had the ability to teach, I started.
I have one more semester to complete my Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. I have been studying guitar and piano for seven years.

First, I work with the student to learn their skill level. It is important to find where they are starting from. Next, we work on foundational skills. This varies on different instruments, but usually the focus is on technique. Anyone can learn how to play an instrument or sing, but having an instructor helps you learn how to do so in a safe and effective way. After this, we work on building repertoire, while still incorporating exercises and methods to improve technique and practice efficiancy.
All ages, 5-80. I am willing to work with any age group. I do not have any specific training with disabilities. I have taught guitar, piano, and voice.
A student should look at the teachers background as well seeing them in person. I reccomend to try different teachers out and see what teaching style you like best. Not everyone learns the same, so it's important to find someone that works for you. Of course, if you feel that my teaching style does not work for you, I am open to discussing new strategies. In my lessons, I try my best to give my students different ways of viewing and learning new things.
Recently, a couple of my students have thanked me for helping them reach their potential. It means a lot to me to know that I am making a difference in my students lives. It's what I've been wanting to do for a long time. It's surreal to see it become a reality.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student may want to ask themselves how they have learned best in the past. Try to know your own learning style, so that I can adjust where neccessary. I want you to succeed. I will not be offended if you have suggestions or input.
