About John
Custom-tailored lessons where each student learns music theory basics and raw feel, through the songs they know and love.
Seeing the look on my student’s faces when they get that “lightbulb” moment and the understand the material at hand. Either that, or when they make it through an entire song, and you can see pure joy at satisfaction all over their face. It’s really encouraging.
I actually just needed an extra job back in 2009 in addition to waiting tables. I accidentally discovered that I had a real passion for, and enjoyed, sharing my love of music with curious, driven students.
10 years of music instruction experience, on top of 22 years of playing experience.

First lessons are generally assessment lessons to see where the student is in their learning path, and also to see if we vibe well, because sometimes, it just isn’t the right fit.
All ages, 6-60. Guitar is my primary instrument and what most of my students are, but I have also been teaching bass and drums for 10 years.
Be sure that you are willing to put in the practice time, because you WILL need it. Also, picking a teacher that keeps it light and FUN is essential. It’s called “playing” music for a reason.
Going to concerts is one my favorite things to do, naturally. Shows of all sizes are enjoyable to me, but I prefer small to medium club shows. Although, I most recently saw a show at Red Rocks in Colorado, so that was a bucket list item that was awesome to check off.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Will I need my own instrument? Yes.
How long should I practice weekly? 1-3 hours.
Can I learn “____”? Sure thing! Let’s break it down to the basics.
