James was by far the best guitar teacher I have had (and I've had several). He is methodical and disciplined while being cautious not to stifle the creativity that makes playing the guitar so fun and makes each player unique. His teaching is backed with years playing professionally in bands, a great ear and passion for music, and an extensive education in music.

James taught private guitar lessons to me while I was a student at Harding University. At the time I had some experience in music and had taught some guitar to myself. We met for 30-45 minutes once per week for fifteen weeks. I grew immensely as a guitar player in that short time. James did a great job of quickly figuring out my skill level and crafting lessons that would help me to grow as a guitarist and musician. He took note of my musical taste and gave assignments that fit my favorite genres well. James is a cool guy, a phenomenal guitarist, and he has a gift for teaching his skills to others. If you have the chance to learn from him, do it!

James is an incredibly skillful musician who also harnesses a passion for music—both his skill and his passion make him an inspirational and effective teacher. One of the first conversations we had was in relation to my goals and ambitions; he then crafted my lessons in pursuit of those goals. He was consistently prepared for our lessons, and was adamant in pushing me to improve my weaknesses, while also encouraging my strengths. I would recommend James to anyone!

James, in my opinion, is the model for what a teacher should be. He was encouraging and always made sure that I had a grasp on the material. He also pushed me to be better and had that keen ability to tell whether or not I had practiced that week. I can attest that I would not be where I am today without the direction and guidance provided by James!

I had been playing guitar and taking lessons for several years, but I learned more about guitar in a semester with James than I ever have before.
