I love mentoring students. The work I do isn't just about music, learning an instrument, getting to a goal, or whatever. It's about learning the skills that will help you succeed in life.

I knew my senior year of high school that I wanted to study music in some way. I found more into college, that I wanted to get into Music Education and excelled. When I started teach in the public schools, I found pretty quickly that my forte was in the lesson studio, working with students individually. This is where I excel and have the most impact.

I have a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. I have been in the classroom and studio for 12+ years and have mentored students, on a variety of instruments, successfully to their goals consistently.

I, in my private time, have played the flute and piccolo for 27 years. Ive performed with the FSSL's adult flute choir, Hermann City Band, East Cental College Community Band, and Manchester Community Band in Missouri and Nothern Colorado Community Band as well as the Loveland Community Band.

About the lesson

When I'm working with a new student, my first priority is to find out where the student is in the process of learning the instrument chosen. After learning what I need to know, I develop an individualized plan based on the students want and needs to get that student, successfully to his/her goal.

I've worked with students from ages 3-89 on a variety of instruments. These students come from varied backgrounds and varied level of experience.

Make sure that whomever you're hiring aligns with your personality and what you want to achieve.

The last recital we had was a lot of fun. Everyone got a chance to perform their music and then we had punch and cookies at the end. Everyone performing wore leis.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
