About Michael
I have experience playing in a number of different contexts (solo, with a band, recording), and have worked to hone my musical and technical skills to fit in each of those situations. I am a multi instrumentalist who connects concepts and musical ideas across instruments, and I've worked to not only learn to play, but to understand and explain music in an approachable, easy to grasp way.
I love everything about music. I love seeing somebody grasp a concept, master a riff, or grow just a little bit musically, and I just love the ability to share that music with others and help them get to where I am.
I have practical experience on multiple instruments and voice and professional training on guitar, piano, and voice as well.

I will assess where they are technically and what their understanding is of the music they're playing (do they know basic chords by their names etc.), And I will talk to them about what they want: what genres interest them? Who do they like to listen to? If we are a good fit, we will set some goals together and start down the path toward those goals.
Don't be afraid to tell someone they aren't a good fit or that it isn't working! Personality clashes, different focuses, etc. can make the learning process more difficult than it has to be. Don't be afraid to move on.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do you want out of lessons? What style do you want to play? Examples are really helpful. Either of songs or particular artists you like. What is your favorite song to play? What are your eventual goals (e.g. session playing, professional recording, hobby, etc.)? What do you want to know about your teacher?
