About Meryn

Hello! My name is Meryn Hogan, I have been playing guitar for over 10 years now and I'd love to have you as a student.

I am teaching beginner guitar lessons for anyone age 6+. The most important thing to me when learning guitar (or anything new) is to develop a love for it; if you can have fun in the lessons and while your practicing on your own, motivation to stick with it will come naturally. Guitar can be a beautiful thing when played properly, and I want to share that experience with as many people as I can.

My playstyle mainly involves fingerpicking acoustic guitar, but I have plenty of experience with electric guitars as well. I personally recommend starting with acoustic guitar and then moving onto electric once you understand the basics, but it is perfectly fine to do it the other way around.

If hired as your teacher, I will start with understanding how much you know and move on from there with a curriculum outline. If that sounds intimidating, don't worry! It's just a way for things to stay on-track.

We will go over many things over the course of learning, but the main thing I want to focus on is you getting enjoyment out of playing. Whether that's making songs or just being able to play your favorites or something beyond, I can help you achieve it.

Additional Note: I work great with kids! If you are looking for a teacher to assist your child in learning the ins and outs of guitar, look no further. If your child is shy or introverted, do not worry, I know how difficult it can be for someone young to open up and learn something new. I know how impressionable kids can be, and I will be supportive while making lessons fun and something to look forward to.

Details

My pricing is $30 for a one-hour session, or $20 for a half-hour session. Depending on how far I have to travel, I may ask for some mileage compensation.
