About Mike

We take pride in being very friendly and easy to get along with. When working with Ideal Music Lessons, you will get nothing but good vibes and a friendly face. We like our students to have fun during lessons but make sure we stay focused on the task at hand. Lessons are accompanied by recital opportunities, quarterly student assesments, and a strong curriculum. We also understand that people have busy lives these days. This is why we try to be as accomidating and felxible as we can.

One of the most enjoyable things about giving music lessons is to see and hear the progress the students playing abilities. Knowing that we've helped to guide the student along to that next level is very fulfilling. Another very enjoyable part of teaching music is getting to meet and create long term friendships with students and their families.

I have a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance with a music business minor from McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul. I graduated top of my class (Cum Laude). I also have two years of jazz study at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA.

On top of my education I also have over a decade of teaching expereince. My most recent position was as part of the guitar department faculty at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul.

About the lesson

When working with a new customer I like to first meet and do an "assessment" lesson. This lesson is free and usually 15 - 30 minutes. This allows us to meet and greet for the first time as well as giving me an opportunity to see where the student is at and which direction to take them in future lessons. I also like to discuss what the expectations are for the student and/or the student's parent(s).
